Pedestrian struck, killed near El Cajon park
Police said a man in his 20s was struck and killed while crossing West Chase Avenue near Tuttle Park
A man in his 20s was struck and killed while walking across a street Wednesday night near a park in El Cajon, police said.
About 8:40 p.m., the victim was crossing West Chase Avenue near Estes Street, in the area of Tuttle Park, when he was struck by a vehicle headed west on Chase, El Cajon police Lt. Jeremiah Larson said in a news release.
The victim sustained major head injuries and died at the scene, Larson said.
The driver remained at the crash site and is not suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to Larson.
The Police Department tweeted that all lanes of West Chase Avenue were closed between Estes Street and South Sunshine Avenue during the investigation.
